Pool House & Ketra Lighting — Outdoor Entertainment Design

Tunable Ketra lighting, a weatherproof display, and landscape audio turn the pool deck into the most-used room of the house after dark.

Lighting

Audio

Buried subwoofers and landscape satellites

The challenge

Exterior lighting had to be beautiful at dusk, invisible at noon, and survive Colorado hail, freeze-thaw cycles, and pool chemistry — while audio needed to cover a large deck without annoying the neighbors.

Our approach

Ketra fixtures were specified for tunable white and color, so the deck can be warm and low for dinner or saturated for a party, with the color temperature shifting on an astronomic schedule.

Audio uses buried subwoofers and small satellites distributed around the perimeter — even coverage at conversational volume instead of two loud speakers at one end.

The outdoor display is a full-sun-readable weatherproof model on an articulating mount, wired back to the main head-end so it shares sources with the rest of the house.

The result

One scene button takes the entire exterior from daylight to dinner to late-night swim, and the family uses the space three seasons a year instead of two.

Light that follows the sun

Ketra's tunable fixtures shift color temperature across the evening on an astronomic clock, so the terrace warms as the sky does. Landscape, architectural, and water-feature lighting all run on the same platform as the interior, which means one 'Away' press turns the whole property down.

Weatherproof, not weather-tolerant

Every exterior component was specified for direct sun, hail, and freeze-thaw: sealed enclosures, marine-grade connectors, and conduit paths that let cabling be replaced without trenching the deck again.

Questions about this project

Do outdoor televisions survive Colorado weather?

Properly specified ones do. This deck uses a full-sun-rated outdoor display with a sealed enclosure and a mounting detail that sheds water and allows service access — a standard indoor TV in an outdoor cabinet is the failure we replace most often.

What makes Ketra different from ordinary LED lighting?

Ketra fixtures shift color temperature and intensity with tight consistency across the run, so an evening scene can warm gradually without the pinks and greens that inexpensive tunable fixtures drift into.

How is outdoor audio kept from bothering neighbors?

Distributed low-profile landscape speakers at low volume across many points, rather than two loud speakers, keeps the level even on the deck and low at the property line.
